We Make It Happen!
Coming from an institution of higher education, people always ask me how I started event planning and decorating. Over 20 years ago, one of my friends announced she was getting married and asked if I would help plan her wedding. The coordinator she hired bailed out on her and she didn’t know what to do. Her excitement for the most memorable occasion of her life turned into frustration and disappointment. Since I did event planning for my full-time job, I offered to help with her day-of-services and before I knew it, I actually planned the entire wedding from beginning to end. I enjoyed solving her issues, making recommendations, arranging services with vendors, assisting with selecting her bridal gown and wedding party attire, planning and decorating her bridal shower, selecting decorations for the wedding and reception, and making sure every aspect of her special day were done according to how she dreamed it to be. Words cannot express the joy she and her husband had at the end of the day!
From that point on, people who knew I did event planning asked me to help plan their weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, baby showers, bridal showers, graduations, youth conferences, holiday parties, church functions, as well as corporate retreats and award ceremonies. For years event planning was just a job and something fun to do on the side. With the encouragement of my clients and friends, I realized that it could be so much more. Before I knew it, Prestige Designs & Events was born out of something that I really enjoyed and was good at doing! My passion for fashion and interior design, cultivated my skills into decorating.
